Book Week 2023
This week, the students at Sydney Childrens Hospital School celebrated Book Week, following this year's theme - Read, Grow, Inspire. We enjoyed a week full of fun book-related activities, thanks to the SCHS staff, and the Starlight Captains. On Tuesday our students were inspired by author Scott Stuart, who read us his book, Brain is (NOT) Always Right. We asked him questions about his writing process and his life as an author. On Wednesday, we got creative and arrived at school (and our remote lessons) dressed as our favourite book characters. Teachers and students came dressed to impressed, and we loved parading around the Starlight Room in our incredible outfits. We were also lucky to hear from author and musician Josh Pyke, who introduced us to our new favourite song, 'A Banana is a Banana.' On Thursday we sang along with Justine Clarke as she spent the morning with us on her ukelele. This was the highlight of our week! We then got to hear from Jeremy Lachlan who told us about his life an as award-winning writer. We had such a wonderful week celebrating the way that books can bring so much light to so many lives. Happy Book Week!
